I secretly adore Tara Davidson. She's young, pretty, super talented, and is surviving in an idustry that is really male dominated. I spent a week with her at camp last summer but was too shy to introduce myself because i didn't know what to say! "Uhhh... i like your music!" Last summer she got married to Will Carn, Dean's old teacher. I saw pictures from their wedding, and even her dress was adorable! Yup.

I got asked to play with the MacMillian Choir and Queen's chorus. i'm so excited! i don't get paid, but the trip and hotels will only cost me $250 total, which my mom said she'll supply (thank god!)
Another non-paying but amazing gig: I'm going to be in the pit orchestra at the Toronto Centre for the Arts for the musical "The Highwayman". It sucks that i won't get paid, but still, it's a huge foot in. There are no auditions for pit bands for musicals (at least not in toronto), it's all about connections and getting known. i hope this is that kind of opportunity...
i was supposed to be in a motorolla ad (in the jingle, not actually in it!) but the funding got cut so they couldn't afford live recorded musicians. which sucks. oh well.
what else is new in my life... OH! i had $7 to my name this morning, but then my mom found that i still had $90 in my old bank account which only she had access to. SCORE! then i taught tonight and made another $35. I'm going to save LIKE MAD so i can afford school next year.
i've been thinking lots about summer now too. i want to teach lots of lessons, but i need to find some space in lindsay where i can teach. which reminds me i should phone Van Halteren's music store tomorrow.. they might have some studio space i can use/rent. I've been racking my brains for other options, but i really can't think of any.
oh my mom just phoned to nag me about summer, and when she does that i get really worked up and upset. anything i want to do she dissmisses "it's not practical!" i said i could ride my bike to lindsay (30-40min) i've done it before, but she seems to think i'm being so unrealistic. sure i couldn't do it everyday. and i wouldn't do it if it was raining. but i would as much as i could.
she thinks that paying $685/month in rent is cheaper then $50/week for gas. ARGGHAHHT!!

this post started off so happy, and now i am so pissed off. i'm going to go live in a forest and not talk to anybody for the summer. goodbye.
so, i got my bills on friday. i'm going to complain about my mastercard bill. It's more than I have in my bank account right now. Usually I NEVER spend money i don't actually have. so this is how this came about: I still haven't been fully reimbursed for $125 worth of music sweaters. but hopefully i will this week. I ended up taking 4 cabs when i went to montreal. that's $30 each time. that's $120. I had to buy a train ticket to get HOME from montreal. that cost $116 There was a $60 application fee for a summer program i applied to. In december, i bought myself a spa package for $50: manicure, pedicure, AND facial. WHAT A DEAL! and it just got charged to me now, when i don't think i'd even buy it. (i haven't used it yet :S, anyone want to buy it from me? it's for Merle Norman in the manulife centre) I've been buying albums off of itunes. $34.99 this month.
I make $75/week teaching lessons, but spend $5.50 on TTC AT LEAST per week. I have next to zero groceries to get me through the week. time to eat things from cans! spaghetti with cheese! cereal! Milk is cheaper at Shopper's Drug Mart then at Rabba's. But i don't think i get points for it? The last article of clothing i bought for myself was socks. that was in january. and because i needed them. i've started using olive oil for makeup remover i wear makeup less frequently so i don't run out of it soon.
i'm considering going through my closet and selling things i don't wear anymore. i wish i could make money off of selling origami boxes. sadly, i don't think there's a market for that.
my 1st year theory TA wrote a motorola jingle and i'm recording for it next week for $100. i need more jobs like this!! sadly, this barely covers the cost of my train ticket.
